Since the late 2000s Midland has been riding at the top....of everything. With the current boom, they are leading the nation in job creation, unemployment and has the fastest growing economy. The latest census estimates reported Midland's population swelled 4.6% in only 1 year topping all other metropolitan areas.
Midland has a current population of 148,000 and less than 2% unemployment. Jobs are plentiful and housing is scarce. Midland has done several things right in order to capitalize on this latest boom, but may be behind the curve when it comes to adequate housing development and infrastructure. There have been several reports of make-shift homes and slums popping up all over the place. The cost of living mainly due to housing expenses have drastically sky rocketed and there does not seem to be an end in sight....or is there?
